Incredible Value for a Hobbyist

Incredible Value for a Hobbyist

I bought this for DIY home energy audits and checking for heat leaks. For the price, the clarity is astounding. The menu is intuitive, and it connected to my phone in seconds. I've already found several drafts around my windows I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. A fantastic tool for any homeowner.

User-Friendly and Powerful

User-Friendly and Powerful

I was worried a thermal camera would be too complex, but the Thor001 is brilliantly simple. The picture-in-picture mode with the visible light camera helps immensely for context. The battery life is solid for a full day of use. It feels robust and well-made. Very impressed.

Great for Wildlife and Outdoor Adventures

Great for Wildlife and Outdoor Adventures

I primarily use this for night hiking and wildlife observation. The thermal sensitivity is excellent for spotting animals in complete darkness from a safe distance. It's lightweight, easy to carry, and the image is super clear. The only minor downside is the low-light visible camera is just okay, but the thermal performance is the star, and it shines.

Solid Performance, Fantastic Price Point

Solid Performance, Fantastic Price Point

I've used Flir and Seek thermal cameras before and was skeptical about this brand. I'm a convert. The performance is nearly on par with units that cost twice as much. The ergonomics are comfortable, and the screen is bright and sharp. If you're looking to get into thermal imaging without breaking the bank, this is the one to get.

More Than Just a

More Than Just a "Toy" - A Serious Tool

This isn't a low-res thermal dongle; it's a capable, serious thermal imager. The ability to adjust parameters like emissivity and temperature scale is crucial for accurate readings. I use it for electronics design to check for PCB hotspots, and it provides reliable, quantitative data. Highly capable and surprisingly affordable.

Excellent for HVAC/R Technicians

Excellent for HVAC/R Technicians

This camera is perfect for HVAC work. Checking refrigerant levels, ductwork leaks, and insulation gaps is incredibly easy. The temperature measurement is accurate, and the different color palettes are useful for highlighting specific issues to customers. The USB-C charging is a modern touch I appreciate. A powerful addition to my toolkit.

Perfect for Automotive Diagnostics

Perfect for Automotive Diagnostics

This camera has paid for itself already. Diagnosing cooling system issues, finding brake drag, and checking HVAC performance is now a 30-second job instead of hours of guesswork. The ability to record video is crucial for catching intermittent problems. A must-have for any advanced home mechanic or professional technician.

A Revelation for Home Inspections

A Revelation for Home Inspections

As a home inspector, this camera adds immense value to my reports. Finding moisture intrusion, missing insulation, and electrical hotspots is now effortless. The high-resolution images are clear enough to include directly in my client deliverables, helping them visualize problems instantly. A professional-grade tool that boosts my credibility.

better than my seek

I had a Seek Thermal Reveal Pro before.
Good for basic work but the 320x240 sensor sometimes missed small cracks in insulation.
Thor001 picked up a cold air leak running through a wall stud that the Seek didn't catch.
I trust it more for energy audits now.

wonderful tool for home inspection

My old Hikmicro Pocket1 was decent but struggled to find slow heat leaks in walls.
Thor001 higher sensitivity (<35mK) easily caught fine leaks without ripping open drywall.
Wish the Thor had a lanyard hook though, would be nice for climbing jobs.

fantastic tool

I’ve been using an old FLIR i7. The hardware still works fine, but the software has been a nightmare. FLIR Tools hasn’t been updated since 2014, it runs slow, crashes a lot, and feels like they just gave up on it. My unit doesn’t even support live capture, so every time I have to take the shots first and then go through this slow process of analyzing them later. Super frustrating.

The Thor001 is a whole different story. The app is quick and easy to use. You can transfer the image wirelessly to your phone or PC, watch live, and actually go back and review your saved shots properly. It also lets you make thermal reports without any trouble. Works on PC, iPhone, Android, and iPad too. Honestly, this is how the FLIR software should have been from the start.

Great handheld thermal imager

Just used the Thor001 while inspecting a newly built house before move-in.
It helped me detect missing insulation behind one of the bedroom walls. The outside temperature was around 12°C, and that section was reading nearly 4°C colder than adjacent walls.

The 512×384 resolution makes small cold spots stand out clearly without needing any visible light overlay.
The picture-in-picture mode was surprisingly useful too. I could align the visual reference while still focusing on thermal contrast.

The builder fixed the issue before we finalized the handover, so the camera basically saved me hundreds in future heating costs.
Highly recommended for anyone doing home inspections or energy audits.
